Dr. Barry Heineke

Dr. Barry Heineke graduated from The Ohio State University in 1982. After practicing in small animal practices in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, He established his practice in Alexandria in 1991. His interests include animal ophthalmology, dentistry, optopathology, and dermatology, as well as exotic medicine and surgery for rabbits, hamsters, small birds, ferrets, and reptiles. He is a graduate of Campbell County High School and Northern Kentucky University. He loves the outdoors, physical fitness, and has become an avid golfer with his sons, Nick and Brandon.

Dr. Brandon Heineke

Dr. Brandon graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2016. Ever since he could walk he wanted to follow his father's footsteps as a veterinarian. He is a 2008 graduate of Bishop Brossart High School and a 2012 graduate of Northern Kentucky University. He has special interest in internal medicine, surgery, dermatology and dentistry. To him, being a veterinarian isn't a job, it's a life commitment to animals in need. He cherishes the opportunity to practice veterinary medicine alongside his father. His hobbies include golf, outdoor activities, and spending time with family (his beautiful wife Amanda, his fluffy cat Oliver and his pretty dog Macy)."

Kimberly Suer

Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist, 7+ years
I have worked in the field of veterinary medicine for over twelve years and have worked for Dr. Heineke for over seven years. In addition to working with animals, I have also have several pets of my own- one Labrador retriever, one pug, and two cats. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Biology and a Bachelor's of Science in Equine Science. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband, my three daughters, and friends and family. 

Cindy Heineke

Cindy, Dr. Heineke's wife, is the office manager. She keeps track of all the books and keeps all the employees happy. She loves visiting the animals that are in the hospital.

Michelle Case

Michelle graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Brown Mackie in May 2015. She has always had a passion for animals. She adores her three cats; Phoenix, Bit and Merida, and her Bearded dragon, Rex. Outside of work she enjoys reading, drawing and playing the guitar. 

Amanda Litzinger


Amanda is a 2013 graduate of Brown-Mackie College with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Though she waitressed for five years to put herself through school, it allowed her to build her communication skills and learn to interact with many different types of people, an asset working in this profession. She spent much of her time growing up working with animals, including participating in 4-H and showing all types of animals for over nine years. This upbringing and lifestyle led to her desire to work in the veterinary business. Amanda currently lives in Indiana with her own menagerie of animals consisting of 2 horses, 3 dairy goats, 2 dogs and a cockatiel. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends and family, riding her two horses, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. 

Kris Niemeyer

Kris retired in 2007 after 33 years at American Airlines in International Reservations, when they closed their Cincinnati office; and then spent 6+ years managing the customer service department at Diversified Ophthalmics, a local eye-care supply's distributor. Her lifetime love of animals prompted her to look for an opportunity in the veterinary indistry, and Heineke Veterinary Hospital fortunately offered that chance. Kris says her first year was as exciting as it was challenging, and she really loves the interaction with the hospitals varied patients and their owners. She resides nearby in Alexandria with her husband Frank and has two grown children, Bryan and Andrea, both of whom graduated from Bishop Brossart High School; and her two other beloved "boys"- Boo, a lab mix, and Bentley, a Pomeranian. She also enjoys pursuing a lifetime love of painting and sketching, various DIY projects, and other outdoor activities.
